Dallas Mavericks Trade

Dallas Mavericks Acquire Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington

Trade Bolsters Frontcourt for Playoff Push

The Dallas Mavericks have made a significant move to bolster their frontcourt, acquiring center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards and forward PJ Washington from the Charlotte Hornets. The Mavericks sent a 2025 second-round pick to the Wizards and center Dwight Powell and a 2029 second-round pick to the Hornets in the deal.

Gafford Brings Defensive Presence

Gafford, 24, is known for his defensive prowess. The 6'11" center is a strong rebounder and shot-blocker, averaging 8.9 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game this season. He will provide a much-needed defensive boost to the Mavericks, who have struggled to defend the paint at times this season.

Washington's Young Big Man

Washington, 25, is a versatile forward who can play both the power forward and center positions. He is a solid scorer and rebounder, averaging 11.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season. Washington will add depth to the Mavericks' frontcourt and provide coach Jason Kidd with another option off the bench.

Mavericks Eye Playoff Success

The Mavericks are currently seventh in the Western Conference standings and are looking to make a deep run in the playoffs. The addition of Gafford and Washington gives them a more balanced and talented roster, increasing their chances of success. With Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving leading the offense, the Mavericks now have a formidable team on both ends of the court.

The trade deadline is approaching on February 9th, and the Mavericks could still make additional moves to improve their roster. However, the acquisition of Gafford and Washington is a significant step in their quest for a championship.
